For your consideration…..

The song “What Was I Thinking” makes me laugh but the lyrics did not seem to fit the blog. I had to ask, why this song for today’s message.

In general laughter is good for us. It is good for everybody. We need more of it. Today’s message, however, is very specific. It is targeted at ourselves.

We are reminded to not take ourselves so seriously that we can not laugh at ourselves. We do not lose any power when we flub up. We can laugh at ourselves and ask, “What was I thinking?”

If we are alone, we can laugh out loud. There is nothing crazy about that. Hey, it is great to share laughter. That is a good thing but there are no rules that say you can’t laugh alone. Laugh out loud whenever you can.

When I got today’s message, I immediately thought of someone who is a perfect example. While I sometimes think she is too hard on herself, she definitely can laugh at herself. My daughter, Alex, is a Naval aviator. Her call sign is “Sheba.” It stands for, “she believes anything.” At different times people have spun stories and she has totally believed them thus she was given the “Sheba” call sign. She is unabashed and doesn’t hesitate to laugh at herself. I love it when she dances with wild abandon, unembarrassed, thus giving others permission to do the same. There is power in being able to laugh at yourself and being an example inviting others to do the same because you are spreading joy.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Laugh. Laugh out loud.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-Seeing AJ and Mac.

-Mac and I remembering an incident from vacation.

-Catching up with Cathy.

-Talking about her granddaughter, Savvy and comparing her to when Alex was little. Oh boy!

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
