“Learn To Be Still”
by Don Henley

It’s just another day in paradise
As you stumble to your bed
You’d give anything to silence
Those voices ringing in your head
You thought you could find happiness
Just over that green hill
You thought you would be satisfied
But you never will-
Learn to be still

We are like sheep without a shepherd
We don’t know how to be alone
So we wander ’round this desert
And wind up following the wrong gods home
But the flock cries out for another
And they keep answering that bell
And one more starry-eyed messiah
Meets a violent farewell-
Learn to be still
Learn to be still

Now the flowers in your garden
They don’t smell so sweet
Maybe you’ve forgotten
The heaven lying at your feet

There are so many contridictions
In all these messages we send
(We keep asking)
How do I get out of here
Where do I fit in?
Though the world is torn and shaken
Even if your heart is breakin’
It’s waiting for you to awaken
And someday you will-
Learn to be still
Learn to be still

You just keep on runnin’
Keep on runnin’

For your consideration….
I love today’s message for so many reasons. First it came in a song that I love. Second because each word resonates with me. Third because learning to be still and making a committment to doing so every day has changed my life.
When we are still and shut our ego down, it is like our ability to learn, understand and know is on steroids. When we are still, our awareness is heightened and we are able to communicate with our Guidance without any interference. We don’t need an interpreter or anyone to intercede for us. We have free direct access should we choose to engage.
Learn to be still.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…..
-Meditate/pray….ask…..”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Listen and trust yourself that you are hearing the answer.
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
What made me smile yesterday…..
-Having my family close.
-Alex, James, Mac and AJ’s great hiking adventure.
-An awesome dinner with Mac’s great catch.
-Great conversation and fun games.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
