All These Things That I’ve Done by The Killers

When there’s nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
One more son
If you can hold on
If you can hold on, hold on
I want to stand up, I want to let go
You know, you know, no you don’t, you don’t
I want to shine on in the hearts of men
I want a meaning from the back of my broken hand

Another head aches, another heart breaks
I am so much older than I can take
And my affection, well it comes and goes
I need direction to perfection, no no no no

Help me out
Yeah, you know you got to help me out
Yeah, oh don’t you put me on the backburner
You know you got to help me out

And when there’s nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
These changes ain’t changing me
The cold-hearted boy I used to be

Yeah, you know you got to help me out
Yeah, oh don’t you put me on the backburner
You know you got to help me out
You’re gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you’re gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you’re gonna bring yourself down

I got soul, but I’m not a soldier
I got soul, but I’m not a soldier
(repeat)

Yeah, you know you got to help me out
Yeah, oh don’t you put me on the backburner
You know you got to help me out
You’re gonna bring yourself down
You’re gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, oh don’t you put me on the backburner
You’re gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you’re gonna bring yourself down

Over and again, last call for sin
While everyone’s lost, the battle is won
With all these things that I’ve done
All these things that I’ve done
(Time, truth, hearts)
If you can hold on
If you can hold on

For your consideration……

Most of us are probably striving for perfection. We want to be that person that “shines on in the hearts of men.” We want to know our life purpose and fulfill it. That’s all good.

Today’s message reminds us that we are on a journey that is sometimes hard and tough so we seek “direction to perfection.” Certainly we get that from our Guidance. But we also get that from each other. We get that by helping others and by accepting help from others. We get that when we realize and appreciate that we are all on the journey to perfection together.

Each of us are more than the sum total of all of our experiences…..all the things that I have done…..good and bad, success and failure. We win when we help each other. We lose when we try to go the journey alone. The journey to perfection is never a solitary one.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps everyone can take……

-Meditate/pray….ask….”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Shine on.

What made me smile yesterday……

-All year-long our kindergarteners look forward to the “100th” day of school. It is a tool to help them learn to count, recognize numbers, their relationship to each other etc. Yesterday was the 102 day of school. My favorite kindergarteners had lots to share of their “100th” day celebration. I shared with them that today our family is celebrating Aunt Dorothy’s 100th birthday. They were in awe with lots of questions…..or comments. My favorite was from Mario who proclaimed, “My dad is 99.”

-We Skyped with Alex. It has been great having her able to Skype for so many days in a row.

-Lots of errands done before school. I love when I am efficient.

-Shannon and Kerrie…..regular “funny girls.”

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
