For your consideration……

I’m going to soften this up and see how it goes. If I have to address truth again tomorrow, you will know it did not go over well.

Do  you ever remember as a child  lying and trying to pass it off as just a fib? Perhaps you have had this experience with your own children. Probably almost all of us have had it sometime in our life. When I was growing up, there was no such thing as a fib. It was black and white. A lie is a lie is a lie.

I remember my oldest daughter fibbing about taking cookies from my mom and stuffing them in her pockets to go home. I couldn’t believe it. She was stealing them. My mother, however, loved it. She said it was a little game they had and didn’t want me to say anything to her. She had mellowed and loved that Shannon wanted her homemade cookies. When we got in the car, I did ask Shannon about it and she just looked at me and said, “She knows I take them.”

Deep down in our own center we recognize truth. We know that facing truth is essential not only to ourselves but to the world.

Today we are told that politically correct (PC) is damaging us as a world people. If we can not look truth in the harsh light and see it for what it is, we can not address it. If we minimize the wrong, we can not adequately correct it. If we can not face it head on, we can not find a solution. Instead we address the mask it is wearing.

I’ll bet most of us have at on time or another been handed a problem. We find a solution and walk away only to find out that it isn’t really solved. It wasn’t solved because we were only given half of the information. Had we been given all of the facts up front, we would have come up with an entirely different solution. That is exactly what PC is. It presents the colored truth therefore masking or eliminating key information.

Remember the line in “A Few Good Men?” “You can’t handle the truth.” That is a perfect example of PC. Someone decides for someone else that the truth needs adjustment.

Think about it. Someone gave lying a name and made it chic. Suddenly PC isn’t really lying. Then what is it? It isn’t the truth.

We have heard this many times before. We have entered a new dimension and only the truth will do. We are asked to strike PC from our vocabulary. Only the truth is correct. We can work with the truth. We are strong enough for the truth.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……

-Meditate/pray…ask….”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Insist on the truth.

What made me smile yesterday……

-Sitting out on the deck in a glorious October day at Stillwater with Bruce.

-An unplanned “out to dinner” night.

-Talking with my sister.

-Finishing a good book.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
