For your consideration……

I thought this guy was pretty cute. Believe me  there are some pretty disgusting pictures out there when you google “biting off more than you can chew.” Evidently it is not a problem unique to the human race.

Today’s message comes with a few things for us to think about.

First is the obvious with the old saying, “Don’t bite off more than you can chew.” We want what we want and often we convince ourselves that if we “take on” the challenge, we will somehow figure or work it out. Sometimes that works as we are forced to stretch our abilities and grow. Sometimes, however, it is the straw that breaks the camel’s back and we end up digging a hole for ourselves.

The second thing we are asked to consider it that often we are comfortable with our path but we let others derail us. We let others convince us that we are “perfect” for something, we are the “only one” who can take the task on, we are the “best” person for the job. That may all be true but that does not mean it is ours to take on or that we are in a position to take it on.

The third thing in today’s message is a reminder that tells us that there is nothing wrong with “biting off” challenges, opportunities, goals a bit at a time. When we do this we give ourselves the opportunity to learn our lessons well and enjoy the journey. We eliminate a lot of stress. In fact, if we handle things as we go along we often avoid the necessity of biting off more than we can chew later on because we have not let a problem balloon to something bigger than it was ever intended to be.

Finally, when we “chunk” things out or divide a task, problem, goal etc. into smaller pieces, they no longer seem overwhelming. Too often, we look at the end goal and it just looks to overwhelming for us to take on. We simply can not see how we can achieve it and we refuse to “bite off more than we can chew.” We give up. We don’t try. But if we can chunk it out into realistic size pieces, we can see the steps that make the goal possible after all.

Today’s message wants us to be conscious of our choices. If something does not seem right, we need to pause and ask why. Why don’t I want to do this? Or why am I overruling my wisdom? Can I chunk out a path that is comfortable and doable? Is this mine to take on? Is it on my path? Is it for my highest good and the highest good of others? Ask the questions of your authentic self. Sit in silence with them. Listen and honor the answers.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…….

-Meditate/pray…ask..”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Talk to yourself.

What made me smile yesterday……

-A day with AJ.

-The pizza man.

-Sunshine.

-My online class.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
