For your consideration……

This message actually came through yesterday not too long after I wrote yesterday’s blog. Do you ever have those “goose bump” or “zing” moments when you are in the middle of doing something or talking about something and wham, it seems like an exclamation point is hits the moment? You get those goose bumps or zings.

I was talking to my friend, Jody, yesterday and got one of those. She was asking about Aunt Dorothy, an aunt that I help take care of. Actually, all we can do for her now is visit now and then. Aunt Dorothy is 99. Her daughter lives in Texas and son in Maryland. She is the last living sibling and we are the closest family she has. Still it is about and hour and a half drive to see her so we do not get there as often as we should.

Almost always, my sister-in-law and I go together but couple of weeks ago I had a feeling we should check in on her and I my neighbor said she would ride along with me. When we got there Aunt Dorothy was in bed sleeping. Her lunch was untouched so I decided to wake her. Unlike the last time I visited, I was pretty sure she recognized me. I grabbed her hand and bent to give her a kiss. She looks and actually is very frail but she held on to my hand like a vise, smiled and said “Ohhhh, that is so nice.”

As I told this story to Jody I remarked that, “It doesn’t matter if you are 9 minutes old or 99 years old, you need human touch.” That was when I got the zing and goose bumps.

Hugs and kisses are all good. Don’t be stingy with them.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……

-Meditate/pray…..keep your love close to the surface.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Give an extra hug away today.

What made me smile yesterday……

-A beautiful morning.

-Lunch with my cousin, Karen.

-An easy drive home and grocery shopping done.

-Jody told me that the blog is not automatically posting to Facebook again. It seems this happens periodically. Jordan had shown me how to fix it but yesterday I couldn’t. But just like the miracle he is, Jordan answered my “Help” message and is getting it corrected. Wahoo. He is my technology angel.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
