For  your consideration……

Today’s message is actually a “helpful suggestion.” Carry a pebble in your pocket. Believe it or not there are many good reasons for this.

I was given this message for myself about 8 years ago. I went on a semi-sabbatical/vacation to Roatan, Honduras. One of my intentions for the trip was to learn to regularly meditate, pray, study, read and HOPEfully discover my life purpose. Of course, I did not accomplish all of this at once but it was a good start to a dedicated path.

One day I was given a message to go find stone or pebble to carry in my pocket. I did that and still have it to this day. I most often carry it or a stone my grandaughter, Mackenzie gave me that has the word “JOY” on it. I love that she saw it and thought of me. The trouble with women’s clothing is that they do not always have a pocket. Ugh.

Why carry a stone?

One reason is it can act as a worry bead. It is a piece of Mother Earth that we can hold and remember to release our worries. It can remind us to “reset” by taking some deep breaths. It can help us return to calm.

Sometimes I like to (I know others do too) give myself an affirmation for the day. It is a great thing to do. Affirmations help us heal and let go. They are also great aids to manifestations. The trick is to focus and say them. A “pebble in your pocket” can be a reminder to do that each time we put our hand in our pocket.

Stones, pebbles and crystals come from Mother Earth. They can help ground us to her. While all are from Mother Earth, they carry different meaning and healing properties. I have recommended carrying different ones to clients based on what is going on in their life at the moment.

The pebble we choose to carry does not have to be pretty or it can be very beautiful. You can buy it or you can pick it up outside. You can go searching for one or see one on the spur of the moment. What matters is that it calls to you. You are drawn to it.

A pebble in our pocket is a handy little tool to have on hand. So easy yet so effective.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……

-Meditate/pray…..what is your HOPE for the day?

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Got a pocket? Carry a pebble in it.

What made me smile yesterday……

-A great school day.

-A play written and performed by students. This was not just a classroom play. This was an hour long performance in the schools performing arts center. Great.

-More sunshine.

-Bill’s hotdogs for dinner. We consider them a treat.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
