“Letting Go” Suzy Bogguss

She’ll take the painting in the hallway,
The one she did in jr. high
And that old lamp up in the attic,
She’ll need some light to study by.

She’s had 18 years to get ready for this day
She should be past the tears, she cries some anyway

Oh oh letting go
There’s nothing in the way now,
Oh letting go, there’s room enough to fly
And even though, she’s spent her whole life waiting,
It’s never easy letting go.

Mother sits down at the table
So many things she’d like to do
Spend more time out in the garden
Now she can get those books read too.

She’s had 18 years to get ready for this day
She should be past the tears, she cries some anyway.

Oh oh letting go
There’s nothing in the way now,
Oh letting go, there’s room enough to fly
And even though, she’s spent her whole life waiting,
It’s never easy letting go.

Oh oh letting go
There’s nothing in the way now,
Oh letting go, there’s room enough to fly
And even though, she’s spent her whole life waiting,
It’s never easy letting go.

For  your consideration……

Our message came in today via a song about a mother letting her grown child go. Spring is full of graduations and parents left wondering where the time went and how their baby suddenly has suddenly become an adult. I have said many times before, “You raise your children, give them expectations and they meet them. They have become the adult you HOPEd they would be. So why does it feel like you are cutting off your right arm when they are leaving home?” Yeah, even something so right can be excruciatingly hard.

Today’s message is not only about letting our children go. It is about all tough change.

So much of spring is new and change. Each year spring shows us that what looks dead has only been dormant and is full of life and beauty. We are reminded that our lives are full of endings and beginnings. Our life may at times seem stagnant but we too are reborn as we forge ahead on our life path.

But moving forward means we have to be willing to let go. We have to drop the familiar and security of today in lieu our faith and HOPE of tomorrow. Don’t focus on the risk. Focus on the leap in faith and absolute belief in yourself.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……

-Meditate/pray…..solidify your faith.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths. I can’t wait.

-Be excited for your next steps.

What made me smile yesterday……

-A field trip to a stone quarry. It was fascinating and our students loved it.

-An exiting reading.

-A surprise visit from Kathy.

-We  heard from both our girls.

To my husband, Bruce….
