For your consideration…….

I love how our Guidance gives us messages……how they take what they know you know and turn it around into a message. That is how I got today’s message. I was reminded of a conversation I had the last night with my daughter. She was explaining how she used sponges but was worried about germs so she had a system keeping sponges separated based on their purpose.

We often talk about babies being like sponges, soaking up knowledge, skills and emotions so quickly each and every day. But the reality is we continue to be like sponges throughout our entire life. And that is good. We should always be anxious to learn new knowledge and skills. We need to be in touch with our emotions and the emotions of others.

Ideally, as much as possible, children are protected from the negative emotions until they are grown enough to handle them. When that doesn’t happen, we have the violence that we are seeing from so many of them. The breakdown of a the family is devastating to a society. But that is another blog altogether.

Today we are reminded that we are like sponges. We soak up emotions each and everyday. Some are good and aid our personal growth. But some are not so good. The negativity, anger, jealousy, back biting etc., are not good for us. They need to be kept separate from the good we soak up. They need to be cleansed just as we cleanse our bodies each and every day. If we don’t, they build up spread, permeate and contaminate the good things….the good sponges.

Each and every day here we suggest that we “meditate/pray” each and every day. It is simply the best way to cleanse our spirit. It is necessary. It is good.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…….

-Meditate/pray…..cleans your spirit of what the “germs” that is toxic to you.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths. Inhale the good and exhale the bad.

-Be a force for good. Try not to leave negativity behind.

What made me smile yesterday……

-Another beautiful day in Anacortes, WA.

-Spending as much time as we can with our Alex.

-Sitting on the back deck reading a book.

-Arrangements all made for our trip back tomorrow. Where did the time go?

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
