“Authentic Self” by Philip Straub

For your consideration…..

I love today’s message because it is all about what this blog is about. It is about the core from where our HOPE springs forth. Today our message is about our authentic self…our soul.

Our authentic self is our forever. It was before, it is now and ever shall be. It is our completeness and truth. It knows all of our past both in this lifetime and others. It knows our life purpose. Perhaps you know all that. I HOPE you do.

Today our message is narrowed down to a reminder about our authentic self. We are asked to remember we are unlimited. Our authentic self is free. It knows our unlimited possibilities and opportunities. It is where our dreams are birthed.

We are asked to remember that we hold the key to our authentic self. We always have access to it. It anxiously awaits our prompts. It wants to be part of every moment. But unlike the ego it patiently waits for our request. Indeed, our ego is what weighs us down. It is our ego that defines limitations. It is our ego that holds judgement, mostly of ourselves.

Our ego delivers all of those words of self-doubt like “can’t, won’t, shouldn’t” etc. The authentic self delivers words of HOPE  like “of course you can, why not, should, go for it, what do you have to lose, you don’t know till you try,” etc. If you feel doubt or alone, you are hearing your ego. Your authentic self ALWAYS sounds and feels like love whether it is what you want to hear or not.

Our authentic self comes right from God. It is his work of art. It carries his signature. It is his reflection. Is God limited? No, of course not, and neither is his works of art….our authentic selves.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…….

-Meditate/pray…..the best way to learn to recognize the voice of your authentic self is in silence. As we learn the sound and feeling of it we will recognize it throughout the day and night. We will learn to access it in each moment big and small.

-Drink lots of water. It helps not only our body but our clarity.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Spend time outdoors connecting with Mother Earth and Father Sky.

What made me smile yesterday…….

-A great bridal shower for Courtney. It is always fun sharing joy and seeing friends.

-My last task before my road trip is completed.

-AJ’s soccer game. Great weather. Great young men.

-Fun, after soccer, dinner on my AJ’s birthday.

-I am so excited that my sister-in-law, Cathy will be here soon. I just can not wait.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
