For your consideration…..

This morning I was given a similar picture of an experience I had. I was on a corporate management team for a new company. The initial team for various reasons had not worked out and one by one they were replaced. The company was in a mess and the all of us on the new team felt a lot of urgency and pressure to “right the ship”. Each of us were very clear on what our prospective area needed and were fierce in pursuing it. And we clashed and we clashed and we clashed.

Finally, our CEO decided on a team building exercise. He signed us all up to go to Howie In the Hills in Florida where they had a “ropes course.” A ropes course has various activities that require a partner or a team to complete. It requires trust in yourself and your partner. I did not want to go for several reasons such as I am afraid of heights, I was the only woman on the team and I did not feel that I was in the physical condition this called for. In the picture above imagine that you could not reach the next rope and… oh by the way… your partner was coming from the other side and also had to meet that rope in the middle. Yeah, it was rough. But guess what? I was one of the few that was able to complete every part of the course with the help of my partner.

Yeah, I knew what this picture was about. So I was a little confused when I was also given the “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.” analogy. Clearly the picture was about trust and taking a risk while the analogy suggests just the opposite. I had to sit with this and ask for help sorting it out.

The answer is that it depends on “who is doing the talking” or decision-making. Is it from the ego or from our authentic self? Our ego can lead us into risk taking that maybe we shouldn’t take. But often it is what holds us back. We easily can see the danger of an inflated ego. But often we do not see the danger of the minimizing ego. Our ego has lists of all the reasons why we should not be going for those stretch goals. It can keep us from believing in and taking a chance on ourselves. It can keep us from growing and moving forward on our life journey. On the other hand, our authentic self always wants the best course of action for us.

Once again, our message is about getting in touch, learning to listen and following the direction of our authentic self. This message seems to have an urgency this week.

It is the HOPE that we will follow this request. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps……

-Meditate/pray….As much as you can do is perfect. Too often we “judge” the quality of the meditation. Some days are just better than others. And, frankly, it is not as important as consistency. You see, just making the effort each day, alerts our authentic self and Guidance. It is like setting an appointment. They will show. They just need you to make the appointment.

-Drink lots of water for body and mind cleansing.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Invest in yourself. Trust you. Write an affirmation on one of your dreams including your success if carrying it out. Carry it with you. Pull it out throughout the day.

What made me smile yesterday…….

-A “me” day. No specific plan just a list of possible things I might want to do.

-Lunch at Bona Sera with my friend Carol.

-Dropping off some jewelry for repair….my very favorite pieces. I have wanted to get that done for a long time.

-Getting a manicure and pedicure.

-I am so excited for my Alex. Have a great flight AND simulator today, Babycakes.

-Grocery shopping….check.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
