For your consideration…..

The message today is both literal and figurative. “Every crumb has its place.”

We are reminded that we are each responsible to clean up after ourselves. Each crumb either has a purpose or it does not. If it does then we need to make use of it, either use it or put it in its place. Or we need to discard it. We do not leave it behind as clutter or refuse for someone else or ourselves for that matter.

As teachers and learners we must both learn to do this ourselves with our own life and teach others to do the same. Mother’s teach children. Partners teach each other. Friends remind each other. Co-workers be an example and set expectations. Each person is being asked to assume personal responsibility.

Figuratively, crumbs are those left over problems, hurts, ideas, tasks, etc. that we just have not taken care of. They just keep piling up looming over our head. It is like junk in a car. If we just took out everything we put in it or accumulated over the day, our car would stay organized. But if we don’t, all too soon we have sports gear, fast food bags, plastic bottles etc. rolling around in it. Pretty soon we have to clear off a seat if someone wants to use it. We can’t offer to drive because our car is a mess.

So too it is with unresolved hurts or problems. They sit there accumulating and eating away at our self-confidence, love and real success. All to soon there is no room for what is good and meaningful to come into our lives.

My grandmother used to say to me after I had my first daughter, Shannon, “Little kids little problems, big kids big problems.” I think of that as we think about today’s message. Taking care of our crumbs as we go is a little thing. Letting them accumulate creates something much bigger.

Let’s keep our lives tidy as we go, both literally and figuratively.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……

-Meditate or pray each day. Let those crumbs bubble up where you can take care of them.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths, if at all possible.

-Update your vision board if you have one. If not, start one.

What made me smile yesterday…….

-A day off. It was a real chill day in the middle of the week.

-Bruce is being faithful with getting his feet done. HOPEfully they become less painful and he can resume a more carefree life.

-A surprise call from my sis, Lori.

-I got some good Christmas ideas.

-Alex and Shannon both doing great.

-I started a great new class.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
