For your consideration……

Having been struggling for 2 months trying to help my poor dog get rid of his fleas, I should not be surprised I was given this example for today’s message.

Here is the deal. We all have those things that just “bug” us or nag at us. They just irritate the heck out of us. More often than not we bite our tongues but that just makes the irritation worse. Some of them are big like philosophies, religion, politics etc. But some are little like certain looks, attitudes, words, body language, actions etc.

Yeah, those little things can often set us right off. We try to ignore them. We tell ourselves they are little things and not to be petty. Yet, we are still “bugged”.

Today we are told that just like fleas we can treat the outside but unless we treat the inside and surrounding area, we won’t get rid of the bug that bugs us.

We  have to strengthen our soul….our authentic self to be able to withstand the irritations that surround us. We have to go within to figure out what is the problem with us that allows the irritation on the outside. Why is this “bug” a trigger for us?

Once that is done, we have to be prepared to “treat the surrounding area”. If there is something or someone in our life that is a constant irritation, then perhaps we have to move on for not only our health and growth but theirs as well. You wouldn’t deliberately expose yourself to strep throat or the flu would you? This is no different.

That is the message. That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…….

-Meditate….go within and find your answers.

-Drink lots of water. Now that our furnaces are coming on we may have a tendency to become more dehydrated. Keep water by your bed.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Notice what bugs you. Journal it. Start the process of figuring out why you can’t let it just roll off.

What made me smile yesterday……

-I HOPE I have found a job….at least for several months…..for a friend.

-Great school day. Lots of different students in a fun class.

-Successful shopping.

-Hey, we had some trick or treaters. They were so cute.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
