Don’t Let Our Love Start Slipping Away

Vince Gill

We’ve been up all night long
Trying to solve a problem, well it’s almost dawn
Ain’t no time for sleeping if our love meant everything
‘Cause I ain’t giving up, you ain’t giving in.

Don’t let our love start slipping
Our love start slipping away
‘Cause the life we’ve been living
Gets harder every day
Don’t let our love start slipping
Our love start slipping away.

And real love walks, a real thin line
No communication will kill it every time
So open up your heart, baby we can work it out
‘Cause we got the kind of love people dream about.

Don’t let our love start slipping
Our love start slipping away
‘Cause the life we’ve been living
Gets harder every day
Don’t let our love start slipping
Our love start slipping away.

It’s past the point of right or wrong
Let’s find a way to just hold on, yeah

Don’t let our love start slipping
Our love start slipping away
‘Cause the life we’ve been living
Gets harder every day
Don’t let our love start slipping
Our love start slipping away.

Don’t let our love start slipping
Our love start slipping away…

For your consideration…..

Today we are given the seemingly most unlikely duo, the female cardinal and a song about love.

But as we look at the cardinal the message becomes clear. The female and male cardinal, unlike most birds, are a true partnership. They sing together, they raise their young together. They support one another.

We are reminded that when times get tough it is the partnerships we have made in love that sustain us. This is all love relationships, not just ones between significant partners. Love partnerships are worth the work. Love is always worth the work.

Today’s message not only stresses the importance of love. It asks us to look at partnerships. A true working partnership shares the work, shares the love, shares the joy, shares the responsibility etc. Most important of all each is valued the same. One partner is not more important than the other.

Women have been significantly undervalued for thousands of years. Think about it. Half of the world’s population is undervalued and not seen as sharing the responsibility of humanity. Does that seem like a recipe for success, health and happiness?

Ladies, take a look at the female cardinal. She does not have to fight or protest to assume her rightful place. She just takes it. She just pulls her weight and stands in her rightful God-given role… her life purpose.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…..

-Meditate/pray. Listen to the silence.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Eat foods grown as close to your home as possible.

-Do you feel your true value? There is nothing to fight or argue about. Just stand up in the power of who you are…..the person created by God for his purpose for you.

What made me smile yesterday……

-A picture perfect day….lots of sun, gentle breezes and perfect temperature.

-A leisurely drive with Jody to Stillwater and then down the river.

-I found the specific tiki torches I was looking for.

-Lunch on the bay.
