For your consideration……

“We live in such a noisy world

that many of us have come to

be afraid of the silence.

We think that if only we do a

great deal, it does not much matter

what we are.”

Mother Mary Francis

Well said words spoken like a true mother and certainly perfect for today’s message. Today we are reminded of all the “white noise” that surrounds us. It is so constant that we often do not realize it is there. We do not pay much attention to it. But it is there and if we are not aware of it, we don’t filter it.

Often we only tune into it when we hear something special or offensive to us. But what about the rest of the time?

Without filters in place we are letting someone else tell us what to think, what to do, how to vote, who is right, who is wrong, what is offending, what is going to happen, what did happen, why it happened, whose to blame, whose a hero, whose not. You get the point.

That’s news? It is as long as we are fully tuned in, fully engaged and can check facts ourselves. Otherwise it is just “white noise” and unfiltered it can alter who we really are and what we really think and know is right. Unchecked “white noise” can slowly over time diminish our value of  ourselves. It can make us doubt what we know is true. Over time we can start to think “What do I know anyway?”

“What do we know anyway?” We know our truth and values and anything or anyone that diminishes that is not good for us.

All we are being asked to do today is to put our filters in place if we are out in public, listening to the radio or TV, or reading the newspaper. Sort out what does not match our core authentic self beliefs. Or we can just hang up on those unwanted phone calls soliciting from us. Turn off the TV or radio. Skip over the newspaper articles we do not believe accurate. We just don’t need to get sucked into the hyped up drama. It is ego based and does not serve us well or the world well.

And finally we have a reminder that our real answers are in the silence. In the silence in conjunction with our cleansing breath we can reset ourselves. There we can tap back into who we really are, what is really important and find our true life path. That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……

-Meditate/pray and reset your core authentic self. Let it square that ego away.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors…..find silence…..take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Turn off the phone, radio, TV etc. for a while.

-Journal what you are grateful for.

What made me smile yesterday……

-A warm overcast day. It was still warm but pleasant sitting outside.

-Our swans think our canal is their personal runway. They are noisy on take off. But it is “white noise” of a good kind.

-Breakfast at Coney Island.

-A catch-up with Jackie and Alex.

-My Sis is coming, my Sis is coming….for a visit. Whoopee! Horray!

-Raft burgers.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Chris
