“Spiritual Aspirations”

For your consideration…….

Today we have a task. We are being asked to stop and think and/or meditate asking ourselves what one thing we could do on a daily basis that would add peace, joy, love and/or HOPE to our lives.

Many Christians have given up something for Lent. So naturally, I thought that perhaps this was a message for Sunday. But no, clearly it is meant for today.

That being said it does not mean that you will necessarily know today what your “thing” is. Some may know immediately. Others this will take some time and thought. Some will have a hard time deciding what to pick. While others will have a hard time thinking of a “thing” at all.

Time is not important. The quality of your decision is. I need to emphasize as it was to me, “This is a something that you do for you….not you doing for someone else…..it is for you.”

Of course, doing for others is an important part of our lives. But that is not what this task is about. This task is about nurturing ourselves and helping ourselves achieve our life purpose more easily and peacefully. It is about helping us find clarity and value of purpose.

I have debated for the last hour on whether or not to give examples and say what I have decided to do for myself. This must be a very personal choice for it to have value. I want to be careful not to influence your decisions. But I am being guided to give examples and trust you to trust your Guidance on what is going to work best for you.

I readily admit that I have not read the Bible except for the bits and pieces I have heard in church. I have purchased a new “working Bible”. I am going to read a passage everyday and make notes in it, highlights, paste sticky notes etc.

Other ideas we could do daily……

-Mediation.

-Journaling, writing

-Sitting alone for 5 uninterrupted minutes…..or 10, 15, etc.

-Reading something uplifting or spiritual.

-Writing down an affirmation and carrying it with you to refer to throughout the day changing it as life demands change.

-EFT

-Praying.

-Blessing all food.

-Focusing on what you are grateful for.

-Practicing deep breathing.

-Exercise

You get the picture. This daily “thing” is an investment in you. It is important. You are important. Your life matters. This is a gift to you. That is the HOPE.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…….

-Meditate/pray. It is the path to finding yourself.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Work on finding your “daily” gift to self.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-A magnificent thunder-storm.

-An essay I need to write is almost done.

-A wonderful coaching session with my partner, Gena.

-Fun with Bruce, Alex, Will, Shannon, AJ and Peanut.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Chris
