For your consideration…..

If you always do what you always did, you always get what you always got.” (Anon). John R Ashton.

Many of us start the new year out with resolutions and by now many of us have already broken many of them. We want some sort of transformation to occur in our lives. Yet we continue to get more of the same.

Maybe that is because we are trying to fit change into our life rather than change our life.

Today we are being asked to create space for something new. How do we do that? We start by doing things differently. We start to break up old patterns. Examples: Leave for work 5 minutes earlier or later. Park in the farthest parking spot. Don’t turn on the TV for a few hours or a day. Watch different shows. Change meal times or what you eat. Take your shower at night vs the morning or visa versa. Don’t go out to dinner on the same night. Pick a new one. Pick new driving routes etc.You get the picture. They are little things but they open us up for new things.

Once we have created the space we can try those New Year’s resolutions again or other new things. Examples: We can enroll in a class, meet new people, try new authors, eat new foods, try new places, do different exercises, try cooking new things, try a new hobby, write, travel to new places etc.

Finally, we are being asked to let go of the harsh judgement we place on ourselves. Most of us try on lots of pairs of shoes until we find our favorites. We may try lots of different things before we find something we truly want to keep in our life. And that is OK. We just want to stay open to all possibilities. That is the HOPE.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……

-Meditate. Try to hone in on something you would like to change.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Take an hour to do something just for you.

-Make a bucket list.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-Sunshine again.

-A beautiful walk along the river with Dude. I don’t know who loved it more.

-It was a good writing day.

-Bad Brad’s BBQ.

-Bruce was so happy for us to be back home.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Chris
