Hey, it’s Sunday. God‘s a pretty big subject so I’m sure this will be the first of many blogs about him. Also, since countries have been warring for centuries about who he is, it’s a pretty good bet many won’t agree. So let me remind you it’s,
For your consideration….
You know that song….”Call me, don’t be afraid, you can call me, call me and I’ll be around.” Personally, I think that pretty much sums it up.
Did your Mom or Dad ever say to you? “I don’t care what _______’s parents say.” They basically reminded you that how other families conduct their business doesn’t matter. We conduct ours this way.Yup, that sums it up for me too.
Or did you ever wonder how your Mom caught you doing something you weren’t supposed to. She just knew. Or even if you weren’t doing anything wrong, you just needed her and somehow she knew that too. Yup, God‘s, got that thing going on too.
Did your parents ever say to you, call me on this day, at this time or don’t call me at all? Yeah, God doesn’t say that either.
When you are feeling sad, embarrassed, scared, joyous, befuddled, triumphant, lonesome etc., did your parent’s ever say “call me when you’ve got that all worked out”? Nah, God, doesn’t either.
When you screwed up, really screwed up, made your parents crazy, deep down you knew that no matter what, your parents would still love you. Deep down, don’t you already know God does too. There isn’t a thing you could do to change that. Good to know…doesn’t it feel good.
You get my point. He’s not like a rock star (Well, maybe he is but not one you have to wait a long time to get tickets to see), God is up front and present. He participates as much or little as you want him to…. whenever you want. You don’t have to do anything big to get him. He is like those noseem bugs.He sneaks in with the smallest hint of a thought about him. It’s all it takes. Does that comparison make you laugh? Him too.
You know how your parents would just give you that knowing look, meaning someday the lights will come on and you’ll get it. They’ll just wait you out. God too.
Like I said before, God is a big topic. We’ll talk about him….
Bit by bit, piece by piece, hope by hope steps anyone can do….
-Why not start the dialog? Have fun with him. God is the fun parent not the scary one.
-Take a few deep breaths outdoors
-Relish a good piece of chocolate without guilt
– Remember, that day of rest thing? Try doing a little bit of nothing. You deserve it.
What made me smile yesterday……
-We saw some great inspiring video clips at Kiwanis Key Leader training.
-I saw some great young men and women face their fears and come out the other side smiling.
-My partner and I came out euchre winners.

“I don’t care what _______’s parents say.” sounds waaaay to familiar. Like I actually cringe because I can remember far too many arguements about this one. And my mom is one of those that knows when something is wrong too:) And then God to of course, since that’s the whole point. But it’s not really wrong with God, it’s part of his plan…probably some sort of lesson since everything happens for a reason.
Alexandria….You have one of the most inspiring Mother’s one could own! She is able to spread her intelligence with so many folks AND reared beautiful and strong daughters’ as well. I would have loved seeing all those young kids absorbing all the info that was offered to them last week~end. Keep up the great wisdom you share with us, Chris. You are awesome!
