For your consideration…

Hmmm…I HOPE I can get this right. I have sat on it for a few hours. For sure there is a lot to think about. Today’s message is not meant to be the end all but rather the beginning of thinking about intelligence.

First, when it comes to being intelligent, some of us were more gifted at birth than others. Let me quickly add that does not necessarily continue to be an advantage. Some people are more able to learn data more quickly than others. That is only an advantage if we know how to process and use it.

Recently a friend told me that his daughter went to college and came home with a completely different set of life views. Sometimes we hear on the news that colleges have set an agenda of political and social views that permeate their campus. Of course, most of us think that colleges are meant to present information for students to think about so they can come up with their own views. If they have thought through them, they should be able to defend them. It is in the debating of ideas that society wins because we get the best of all worlds.

This is the point of today’s message. Taking in information, learning what we are taught, is very different than taking information in, processing it and applying it to life. The intelligent person who becomes a parrot had lost their advantage because they have let someone else high jack their purpose. The person who can take in information and use it for their own life purpose and the highest good of all is the person who is truly blessed with intelligence.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Think for yourself.

What made me smile yesterday…

-I loved that our hotel had a noon checkout. It shouldn’t make much difference between 11 and 12 but it did.

-Alex found a great restaurant on a river in Pittsburgh with a great brunch buffet. Christi joined James, Alex, Bruce and I. It was great to get some time together.

-The ride home was much easier than the ride there.

-A relaxing evening.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
