For your consideration…

I retired from Ford Motor. I did many jobs there. I really loved the time I spent working in the Design Center. That is where I first heard the term “surprise and delight.” It was a goal to give customers more than they expected and give them features that they didn’t even know they wanted…surprise them…delight them.

It seems like we are getting many messages lately about “noticing.” Today’s is also about noticing. It is about noticing those surprise and delights that are put in front of us. Have you ever been the recipient of someone “paying it forward?” That is a surprise and delight. What about when your ares are full and you are doing a balancing act and someone rushes to help you. That is a surprise and delight. What about when you walk outdoors and see the first bloom of your flowers or the first fruits on your plants? That is a surprise and delight. What about when you are thinking about someone and they call or stop by. That is a surprise and delight. Synchronicity in general is a surprise and delight. You get the picture.

While the message today is focusing on noticing surprise and delights, we would be remiss not to remember that we can also be the giver of surprise and delights. Certainly the very best way to receive more of them is to give them, notice them and receive them graciously.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water. I love our water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Notice surprise and delights…bless them. Deliver surprise and delights with love and joy.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Catching up with Alex and Jody.

-A good book.

-Ahhh that day of the month where I have to bite the bullet and pay bills. I dread it but feel so good when it is done which then makes me ask myself why I dread it.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
